A little while ago I won a contest on Janes's blog and last week I came home from work to find a fabulous box of goodies.

First up there were 2 gorgeous skeins of a Japanese yarn called Diakeito Diamusee that I have never seen before. It is very soft and I can't wait to try it out as soon as I think of the perfect pattern for it.

Then there was this huge batt of fiber. I don't know what the fiber is but it's also very soft and I love the colorway. I don't have anything in my stash like this and I really look forward to spinning it.

Jane also included a calendar and each month has an original photograph by her. If you've been to her blog, you've seen the beautiful photos that she takes.

This is the picture for February. Isn't it amazing? I thought this calendar was the neatest thing!

Jane, thank you so much for all the thoughtful and wonderful goodies!

Tonight and tomorrow we are suppose to get our first big snow storm of the winter. The snow is suppose to start tonight and change to sleet and freezing rain tomorrow and then back to snow tomorrow night. Driving in snow is one thing, but ice is another. I hate driving when it's icy! The last time I had to drive home in an ice storm, I was white-knuckled and cried the whole way. Yes, I am a big baby. I'm really, really hoping for a snow day from work tomorrow.

Happy Knitting!

I'm with you -- no ice! I can drive on the snow, but the ice scares me. Stay safe!

I love the colors in the first balls of yarn --- such a beautiful combination.

Great gift box! And yes - she takes fantastic pictures.

Just be safe - don't worry about being tense about it. I didn't use to have issues driving in the snow and ice, but I flipped my Jeep on black ice up in Vermont about 4 years ago and I still get that sick feeling in my stomach when I hear the tires crunch on anything snowy.

Yay for winning - and what an awesome package you received! These photos are truly stunning, the February-picture is real art indeed - with such inspiring colours too! And that yarn, that yarn!!! It sure looks totally yummy, must be heaven to the hands when you work with it - and I'm really curious to see what you're going to make with it!

Wow what a wonderful prize! The calendar photo is beautiful.
I'm with you about not driving in ice. One spinout did it for me. Now I avoid the ice.

Lovely gifts. We've got freezing rain/sleet at the moment. Drive safely!

Take the snow day even if they don't offer it!!! I got stuck driving home in a blizzard (I'm not just calling it one... it was official)... and it took me over 2 hours to get home and another 30 minutes to dig my car out of where it got stuck in the drive and into a spot. Part of the way was spent driving at a 45 degree angle and more than part of it spent not being able to see out the front windshield so trying to hang my head out the side window. UGH!!!! Just don't try it!!

What fantastic gifts -- I've been wanting to try that yarn. Snow day (really ice/sleet) here today.

The calendar looks beautiful.
Your post made me reflect: Best thing about working from home: no commute. Worst thing about working from home: no snow days.

The pictures in the calendar are amazing! Hope you manage to drive safely through your snow, not a skill I'd like to have to learn, I must say.

You're not a baby! As a native of Southern California, I am on the verge of hysteria every time I have to drive in more than a sprinkle of rain. I had to drive from Tahoe to Reno in a snowstorm once and nearly chewed my own tongue off in sheer terror. We're driving from San Diego to Tahoe on vacation in a couple of weeks (600 miles--with two small kids and two large dogs), and I fully anticipate spending the last 200 miles curled up in a fetal position, rocking myself into a coma. I am normally an intrepid sort; I've lived all over the world and tried all sorts of risky things--but driving in bad weather totally freaks me out.

I can see why you love all those goodies Karen! They are breathtakingly beautiful, each in its own way. The calendar however; is truly a precious gift. Can't wait to see what March looks like!

All of the gifts look great (that calendar is amazing), but I have to say that batt looks the most appealing. I think I could curl up and sleep on it, it looks so soft and fluffy!

I'm so happy you liked all the goodies. But I do wish you'd send some snow my way, too. I saw one flurry this morning, but then the sun came out and the clouds went away. I think it's more likely to hit 70 than for it to snow. Feh.

Beautiful goodies, especially that batt! Hope you managed the weather ok. It was a real mess in NJ.

Yay! Goodies! New yarns to try are so much fun.
