WIP Wednesday
I finally started my May Day swap sock. Twice actually and this picture is not it. The first time I discovered I was 6 stitches off after I completed 2 inches of the cuff. Argh! The second time I decided the pattern I selected was too fussy and I ripped it again. I started a new pattern today and I think this one is going to work out better. It wasn't big enough to take a new picture.
Goal: Decide once and for all and get on with the sock!

The Noro Scarf is finished.

Pattern: Noro Striped Scarf
Needles: US 7
Yarn: Noro Silk Garden 241 and 246
Started: January 16, 2008
Finished: February 27, 2008

I love this scarf! Doesn't my tripod make a lovely model?
Clapotis is also finished.

Pattern: Clapotis from Knitty
Needles: US 7
Yarn: Artyarns Handpaint Stripes #101 - 4 skeins
Started: May 2007
Finished: March 2, 2008

I am really glad to have this off the needles. I have been itching to start a new shawl but wouldn't let myself until I finished this first.

I did make my goal of finishing the Serpentine Mitts also, but haven't taken pictures yet. There has been lots of finishing in these neck of the woods and it feels GOOD! I have not sat down in front of my spinning wheel all week, but I am ok with that. And I still haven't picked up the sleeves for Liv. I'm running out of old UFO's to finish though, so her time is near. I think all I have left on the needles are the May Day socks and both unfinished sweaters. Yay!
My goals for this week are to pick up at least one of the sweaters and get going on it. That's a nice, broad, doable goal I think.
Happy Knitting!

Posted by: Dana at March 6, 2008 08:07 AMWoo and Hoo! LOTS of FOs. That is super. Both the scarf and your shawl look great!!
Posted by: Anne at March 6, 2008 08:47 AMYour Clapotis is stunning! I love the colors. Also your Noro scarf is beautiful.
Some sock yarn is so fussy about what it wants to be. I hope you can find a pattern that makes both you and the yarn happy.
You have really been knitting. Love the Clapotis and the Noro scarf and I am sure you will have enough cold weather to enjoy them.
Posted by: wendy g at March 6, 2008 09:03 AMClapotis looks wonderful!
Posted by: Ruth at March 6, 2008 09:38 AMNice job on the FO's! Doesn't that just feel awesome?
Posted by: Jenny at March 6, 2008 10:07 AMVery nice Clapotis. And the sock drama! Hee! Hopefully the sock is progressing nicely now....If not, show it who's boss!
Posted by: carol at March 6, 2008 11:09 AMYou really have been a finishing fiend! Feels great, doesn't it? I love the Noro scarf. Is it itchy? I was disappointed in the texture of my Silk Garden sweater--but I still wear it constantly, far more than any other sweater I own. It doesn't pill, stretch, shrink, or show any signs of wear, despite many wearings and washings. And the colors are amazing.
Your Clapotis also looks fabulous. Nice work!
Posted by: Suzanne V. (Yarnhog) at March 6, 2008 12:18 PMAll your FO's are beautiful (as usual). Love the sock color- can you share color and yarn? You have inspired me to make a clapotis.
Posted by: Brenda at March 6, 2008 02:47 PMAm I the only knitter who has not done a Clapotis or Noro striped scarf? Probably! Love yours, especially the Noro with the green in it! Verrry nice.

Posted by: Lisa at March 9, 2008 07:19 PMGreat choice of yarn for your Clapotis! I've been wearing my Noro scarf almost daily, hope you love yours as much. Hey, I'm ready for another CSM gathering!
Posted by: Diane at March 10, 2008 09:52 PMKaren, Love the robe! OMG I have GOT to get my sewing machine repaired. You are an inspiration. Also, the clapotis is so pretty. Yarn is perfect. You always seems to choose the right yarn for each of your projects.
Love your furniture that you are modeling in front of!!!!
I am so envious of all your finishing! My projects seem to be dragging on and on lately.
I can't tell from the photos, but is the Clapotis on a diagonal on the ends? I am finishing a similar shawl, and can't decide if I should put fringe on it or not. The ends are on the diagonal, as I suspect the Clapotis is. Maybe it is better to leave it plain? I'd appreciate your advice!
Posted by: Debby at March 12, 2008 09:55 AMP.S. Can I ask what the finished dimensions are for the Clapotis (rough answer is fine)?
Posted by: Debby at March 12, 2008 09:57 AMThe clapotis IS really and truly beautiful!!!! I don't know if I've ever seen that particular Artyarns before, but I'm certainly going a-hunting for it, now that I've seen how stunningly it works up!
Posted by: Susan at March 12, 2008 10:24 AMYour clappy is beautiful - I love that yarn and the colors in that pattern! Great job!
Posted by: keri at March 12, 2008 12:39 PMI like the bright colors in the Noro Striped Scarf! How often do you wear it?
Posted by: Monica Silva at March 13, 2008 09:08 PMYEAH!! FO!!! Doesn't it feel good?! So, what shawl pattern are you itching to start? May Day sock color is beautiful - like the sky... can't wait to see which pattern you chose. Although there are tons of beautiful sock patterns published, I still go back to my favorite 2x2 rib for most of mine :)
Posted by: Tonni at March 15, 2008 07:57 PMi just love the colorway of your noro scarf -- just beautiful!
