WIP Wednesday

There has been very little knitting progress on anything in this neck of the woods. The only WIP I have been working on are my May Day socks and only when my face isn't in front of my sewing machine or pressed into a book about sewing. I'm afraid I am suffering from sewing and quilting on the brain and nothing else these days.

I just finished the gusset decreases on the socks last night.

My goal this week is just to keep plugging away on these socks. I want to make sure I am done with them in plenty of time so I can start getting the box ready to mail on the 1st.

And I have to show you my bag I just finished. I just love it and I can't believe I made it.

The pattern is An Everyday Bag from Favorite Things. The material is from Amy Butler that I picked up last summer in Northampton.

I made a few changes to the pattern, such as adding batting to the inside pockets and the handle, and then quilting them all so they would match the rest of the bag. I also added a magnetic closure instead of ties or a button and loop that the pattern suggested.

I changed the four big pockets inside to six smaller size pockets that are still plenty big enough. There are another two pockets outside. You can't have too many pockets!

I'm not sure if I'll use it as a purse though. It's bigger than what I am used to carrying. I'll try it for a while and see. If it doesn't cut it as a purse, then I'll use it as a knitting bag. Either way it'll get used.

So far this week I am making myself stay away from the sewing machine so I can finish this project that I started last week.

This is my downstairs half-bath. I forgot to take before pictures, but just picture a tiny little 15 inch crappy vanity with a cracked and fugly vanity top and a mis-matched medicine cabinet. I still can't believe I forgot to take before pictures...I never do that.

The Blacklist problem from a few weeks ago is getting better, but I am still having trouble with sbcglobal and a few others.

That's all my news. Happy Knitting!

That bag is FANTASTIC! So tell me why I just bought a Vera Bradley?! Can't wait to see what's going to happen with your "project"!

Lovely bag. Someday I might get brave enough to try one.

The bag's really lovely. I'm jealous! Those socks look good too.

The bag is awesome! I felt like I was reading about me when I read your blog this morning. I too have not picked up my knitting needles in the last 3 weeks. I 've been sitting at my sewing machine and mainly sewing bags. Amy Butler is my favorite fabric desinger and I've a few things posted on my blog that I made with her fabric. Too funny.

The new bag is fabulous!! I don't blame you for getting stuck in sewing mode.
I wish I had before photos of my half bathroom. When we bought this house it had a vanity that required you to turn sideways to get by it. Of course all the while you had to duck because of the oversized hanging light fixture. Mind you the room is about 3 feet by 5 feet. It's now better but not perfect. I bet yours will be great!

Karen,
Your May Day socks are beautiful and I especially love the color.
You did a wonderful job on the bag too.
Good luck on the bathroom redo.

Wow! That bag is totally 100% gorgeous. Love it. :)

The socks are looking good. The bag is great! I always admire people who can sew because it frightens me greatly to get near a machine needle. Good luck with the bathroom reno too. That will definitely feel good when it's finished!
