WIP Wednesday
I finished my May Day socks. Yay! I hope my pal likes them and that they fit her like they were made for her. :)

They are a just a little big on me, which I hope means they will fit her just a little bigger feet perfectly.

Pattern: Floral Lace Anklets from Lace Style (made with a longer length cuff)
Yarn: Lorna's Laces in Denim
Needles: 2.25 mm
Started: 3/14/08
Finished: 4/6/08

Now I can wash and block them and concentrate on getting my box ready to mail and not have to worry about finishing my socks in time. Once I finished the socks, I pulled my top down cardi back out from the basket and ripped out the snug sleeve for the second time. It is back on the needles and fitting much better this time around. My goal for this week is to finish one sleeve. I am not putting down this sweater until it is done!
The bathroom is almost done. It's about 90% done actually, which is where I usually drop the ball. See, it's not just my knitting that I am bad at finishing. Hopefully, writing that will motivate me to finish it up this week.
Lets see, what else have I been doing... oh I just finished listen to The Quickie by James Patterson. That was the first book I have read by Patterson and it was pretty good. I also saw a really good movie this week.... Lars and The Real Girl. It was one of those kind of movies where you don't expect much and end up pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I recommend it highly. I also cut out a summer top with some cotton stretch knit fabric, but so far I am just playing with the scraps on my machine. It's very different than just plain cotton and is going to take some getting used to. I'm having a really hard time keeping my seam allowances even and I hope it gets easier with some practice.
Well, that's all my news. Happy Knitting!
I love the socks! I even have that book but honestly don't recall those in them. I probably dismissed them if they were just anklets in there. Thanks for opening my eyes :) As for sewing knits, I wouldn't worry too much about uneven seam allowances, one of the benefits of stretch! If you encounter problems with puckering or stretching of seams, try tissue paper to allow the fabric to glide more smoothly.
Posted by: toni at April 9, 2008 07:07 PMI just love those socks! Lucky friend!
Posted by: Lorette at April 9, 2008 07:27 PMThose are GREAT socks...who wouldn't love them?! And look for a character in the Patterson books named Richard or Richie Conklin. (He's also an advisor to Patterson and a real cop who is a good friend of ours. In fact, he "expedited" my carry permit through the Stamford Police Department, where he is second in command!) And for the stretch fabric...check your machine manual for "stretch" stitches specifically for seaming knits. Good time to use that walking foot!
